Arthur is a lifelong Brooklynite who has now called Elmhurst home since 2020. He loves the amazing, diverse, and cheap foods that he can get in Elmhurst! He received his MABS (Master of Arts in Biblical Studies) at Reformed Theological Seminary in New York City. Prior to ministry, Arthur worked in the environmental engineering field in NYC from 2016-2018 and served abroad in India with International Justice Mission in 2015. Things that Arthur enjoys doing include: reading science fiction/fantasy novels, playing board games, singing, and skipping small talk into deeper conversations of faith.

Ahreum grew up in Flushing, NY. She was born in South Korea but immigrated to America in 1996. Ahreum attended Syracuse University where she studied accounting and is currently working as a fund accountant. She has one older sister and is also a proud aunt of 3 nephews and 1 niece. Ahreum started attending Elm Church in early 2021 and eventually joined its church plant, Waypoint, as a core team member. She moved to Elmhurst with her husband at the end of April 2022. As a local resident, Ahreum enjoys all the delicious Asian cuisine, especially David's Taiwanese restaurant. She also loves living close to many of her church community members. Recently Ahreum started getting back to running and is working towards qualifying for her second NYC Marathon.

Andy loves Jesus and his heart is to know him more, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord (Psalm 27:4). His hobbies include brewing beer, playing video and board games, watching shows and movies and going to the gym. He works in IT. He moved to Elmhurst with his wife Ahreum in the spring of 2022. He likes french fries. He is not very good at writing bios, it took him several hours to write this one.

Edison is a native-born Queens resident who grew up in the Sunnyside and Woodside area. He’s tried to leave New York several times, but somehow God has called him to serve in his home turf. He works in event production and aspires to be a professional musician, composing music and playing guitar live. Edison enjoys movies, stressful video games, reading and lifting. He moved to Elmhurst in 2021 with his wife YiLeen, and now live with their very cute cats, Miso and Nori. Edison loves burgers and sandwiches, but his favorite food in Elmhurst is Shah’s Castle Chicken.

YiLeen is originally from Malaysia, and grew up all over Asia before moving to New York for design school in 2010. She now works for several different Christian ministries, and is currently taking seminary classes at Reformed Theological Seminary (NYC). YiLeen loves meeting new people, cooking for friends, trying out new hobbies, and snuggling with her cats, Miso and Nori. YiLeen and Edison got married in 2018, and have been planting their roots in Elmhurst since 2021. Her favourite spot in Elmhurst is Anda for bubble tea and popcorn chicken!

Jezreel is passionate about understanding and loving people well. He finds joy in asking questions and deepening conversations. Currently, he is pursuing a degree in mental health counseling. In his free time, he enjoys hosting board games, cooking with friends, and giving fashion makeovers. He joined Waypoint around the summer of 2022. Jean was born and raised in New York City. She is currently a teacher in the Department of Education, patiently loving on her students. Her family and friends are her greatest support system. She enjoys watching Broadway shows and Korean dramas, event planning, traveling, and trying new restaurants and cafes. Ahreum and Andy invited Jean to Waypoint’s first evening service in 2022. After service, she recalls going out to dinner at David’s and trying their Chicken Leg Over Rice for the very first time. It was a great night overall and has been at Waypoint ever since. She values the deliberate friendships formed and the way Waypoint loves on the community.
